Friends of Somersham Parish Church

Membership of the Friends of Somersham Parish Church

The Friends of Somersham Parish Church (Charity No. 1152257) was established in 2010 to assist in the preservation and improvement to our lovely church building.  It is the only Grade I listed building in Somersham and has proudly stood at the centre of our community for over 800 years.

The Friends work closely with the Parochial Church Council to ensure that it supports and compliments the church projects.  In fact Rev. Sue Simpson and Alan Draper, Churchwarden are two of the trustees.  The next major project is to replace the existing boiler and heating system with new twin boliers in the North Porch and to have new convector radiators in the church which we hope to do in the summer of 2018.

The fundraising and social events have included concerts, quizzes, wine tasting, the well known and well loved market stall on Somersham Cross, and 100 Club lottery.  Friends also stage the Carnival Concert. The magnificent sum of over £25,000 has been raised to date and much of this has been used to support projects such as the new internal lighting, external PIR lighting and the re-slating of the Chancel roof.

The 100 Club is open to all members of the village (and beyond ) and you do not need to be a member of Friends to join.  At only £5 per share per month the returns for the lucky winners can be quite generous!

There are currently over 70 members of Friends and a warm welcome is extended to anyone who wishes to join.
