Weekly Benefice Update

Services and other events for this week beginning 17th September can be found on the This Week page by clicking here.   This page has other news and information about forthcoming events.

Easy Fund Raising     Do you shop on the internet? if you do why don’t you sign up to easy fund raising. This will help the church at no extra cost to you.  Just sign up and make money for the church. Both Somersham and Old Hurst  use this when purchasing items on line, and it costs the purchaser nothing, but the Church receives money for doing absolutely nothing.  If you are unsure of what to do, just ask Jenny Smith at Somersham or Nicola Jarmaine at Old Hurst.

Harvest Festival – Somersham Sunday 24th September    We have been asked by Wateraid if we would support them in their Bottles for Harvest Campaign.  The PCC decided at our last meeting that any funds raised at our Harvest Event would go to this charity. If any members of the congregation would like to take part individually please speak to Jean Draper for more details.   After the Harvest Service we will be having a Bring and Share Lunch and Jenny Smith will supply lists nearer the time.  In addition we will be having a Bring and Buy Table to raise funds for Wateraid.  We would like this to have a creative theme – something you have made – a cake, card or other craft item, something you have grown – fruit or flowers.  Any queries please speak to the Rector.

Voices of Old Hurst   This inclusive community group will meet on Monday 25th for an hour from 7.30pm in St Peter’s for everyone who likes to sing.

Sunday Sing and Praise   “Sunday Sing and Praise” embraces a style of worship unlike any other in our benefice, appealing to those enjoying an informal and slightly unconventional approach to short punchy lay-led services with cake and coffee available throughout.  After July’s successful service it has been decided to continue trialling this for at least the next six months every 3rd Sunday at 10.30am.
