Thank you for your Postcards

During the past 2 years many of you have been putting your unwanted postcards in a blue box at the back of Somersham Church. This is in aid of the charity called Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF).

MAF fly small planes to the hardest-to-reach locations, where people live isolated from the rest of the world, cut off from the most basic necessities. Their highly trained pilots manoeuvre Cessna and Kodiak aircraft over rugged terrain. And while passengers might hold their breath, MAF pilots skilfully land at short, rough airstrips on the sides of mountains, in jungle clearings, or on tropical rivers—to bring medicine and doctors, disaster relief, education, evangelists, Bible translators, food supplies, materials for agriculture and clean water projects, and more. Why do they do it? They will tell you that it is because they are passionate about sharing Christ’s love beyond where the road ends.

Recently John  Sissons handed a fourth box packed with your postcards over to Ken Thom. Ken and his team sell the postcards to help fund the life-transforming flights. Believe it or not, a box of cards is worth between £50 and £400 depending on their rarity. Last year, the postcard sales raised over £25,000! If you would like to know more about MAF and the postcard collections check out http://www.maf-uk.org

John now have another box to fill so please save your postcards for him to pass on to the charity.

Well done and many thanks on behalf of MAF.
